In the world of manifestation, doubt is the naysayer.
You may put up a good front and boldly say - I’m going to manifest a million dollars. Or, I’m going to live in a mansion in Beverly Hills.
BUT, if every cell in your body is secretly saying - nah that will never happen - then you’ve created energetic barbwire between you and the thing you desire.
It’s simply too big of a leap to make.
That’s how I’ve been feeling about reaching for joy these days.
It’s felt like too big of a leap when the world feels upside down.
Which is why I’m advocating microdosing joy.
Rather than asking our energetic selves to believe something implausible, we’re asking our energetic selves to reach a smidge past our comfort zone.
I’m going to manifest a million dollars becomes I’m going to manifest enough money to cover my car repairs.
Everything in the world is wonderful becomes my dentist appointment went really well today.
Each microdose builds self-confidence, rather than creating cognitive dissonance with something we really don’t believe.
Since here in House Talk we’re all about using our homes to positively influence our lives, I thought we should brainstorm ways to microdose joy in our homes.
Consider them Easter eggs hidden amongst the everyday belongings of your home - little joy triggers leading you toward feeling more and more delight each day.
HERE ARE SOME IDEAS TO GET YOU STARTED…
Light a candle.
Reach for one that is non-toxic with 100% soy or beeswax.Play soulful music.
Consider nature sounds as they’re proven to reduce stress and anxiety.Diffuse your favorite essential oil.
To stay healthy, opt for organic or wildcrafted oils. Not sure which one to pick? Bergamot, lavender, lemon, orange, and ylang ylang stand out as fan favorites.Display photographs from your favorite vacation adventures.
High marks for picking the candid ones that make you giggle.Hang fairy lights.
Anywhere and everywhere. Do I need to say more?Grow fresh herbs.
How much fun is it to see something grow that you can throw in your salads, toss in your spaghetti sauce, or use in your DIY cleaning spray.Hang sun catchers or prisms in your window.
And then watch as the rainbows magically dance around your room.Make space for an impromptu dance party.
Dancing may just be the best medicine for your heart, your mind, and your body.Wrap yourself in soft towels.
Scratchy towels are the antithesis of microdosing joy. Try ones made of 100% Turkish or Egyptian cotton.Add pops of color - especially your favorite color.
Don’t have a favorite color? Think back to your childhood. What color did you love? Add splashes of this color through things like throw pillows, vases, flowers, candles, and artwork.Highlight your passions.
Whether it’s a collection of travel mementos or a stack of your favorite books, give them a place of honor.Let bouquets of fresh flowers be your decor of choice.
Rather than one large bouquet on your kitchen table, try scattering small bud vases of flowers throughout your home.Splurge on the luxury sheets that shout “I’m worth it!”
Let crawling into bed be one last microdosing for the day.

I simply LOVE this "micro-dosing joy". Yeah all day! This works so incredibly for me. One of the most wonderful gifts I ever gave myself was to buy a set of 3 solar wine bottle lights.
The tiny solar panel is in the "cork" and the fairy lights string into the bottles. I bought 3 blue lights years ago and all 3 still work. One sits in my kitchen window and 2 in my living room window.
And they bring me a crazy amount of joy each night when they turn on for a few hours. When you said micro-dose joy I checked the lights because one wasn't work. Turns out it had accidentally been shut off. Flip the switch and beauty.
Pausing to appreciate such tiny wonders is what I needed this week. Your post (and note) has been the reminder!
I just bought an orange and cream couch for my new house. And it is delightful. I wouldn't say I'm micro-dosing anymore though HAHA
