“Should I sleep in my bathtub?”
A legitimate question a friend of mine heard during one of her business mastermind groups. The question came from a highly intelligent woman who had just hired a feng shui “master” to help amplify her wealth. The feng shui master told her that sleeping in her bathtub would be the golden ticket.
Thankfully, there was a part of this woman who knew the advice was wackadoodle, hence the question to her mastermind colleagues.
To put things into context…
According to the feng shui bagua map, this woman’s bathroom was in the Wealth area of her home.
(NOTE: The feng shui bagua map is an energy map that shows what area of your home is associated with what area of your life. We’ll talk more about this inside of House Talk.)
What I want to assure you…
Even if your bathroom is in the Wealth area of your home, and even if you want more dollars in your bank account, sleeping in your bathroom will never be the feng shui way to get you there.
Which brings me to the myth-busting portion of this post.
When you’ve heard about feng shui in the past, you may have thought…
It’s a bunch of rules you must follow rigidly, even when it’s at odds with your design style.
It’s a one-size-fits-all approach.
The necessary changes to your home will either be costly or time-consuming (or both!).
If your house doesn’t fit neatly into the feng shui bagua map, then bad luck will be knocking at your door.
Let me assure you, it’s none of these things.
In its purest form, feng shui is about balance, harmony, beauty, and flow. And most importantly, it’s about setting your intention for how you want to experience life and then crafting the energy in your home to align with your intention.
Inside House Talk, we’ll dive a lot into feng shui. It’s one of the main tools we’ll use to build a relationship with your home. But before we go any further, I want to set the ground rules.
There are only two.
1. If it feels good, it’s good feng shui.
2. If it feels bad, it’s bad feng shui.
If your bathroom also happens to be in the Wealth area of your home, I’m not going to suggest you sleep in your bathtub in order to bring more of your energy to that space. And, I’m definitely not going to suggest you hire a contractor to begin knocking down walls to make the space bigger.
However I may suggest you…
Keeping your bathroom clean and the toilet seat down.
Getting rid of the tattered gray hand towel you’ve had since college and replace it with a pretty green one you love.
Adding a small dish of citrine and aventurine to your bathroom counter if you’re into crystals.
Adding a pilea peperomioides if you adore plants.
No matter what your situation is, there are always simple, but impactful feng shui suggestions to shift the energy in your home.
And that’s what House Talk is going to help you with. Discovering the simple, but impactful changes to your home that are going to shift the energy of your home. Because most importantly, when you shift the energy of your home, you shift the energy of your life.
Here’s to using your living spaces to remove life’s roadblocks,
xoxo
