Two weeks ago, I wrote an article about the world feeling like a lot. In it, I gave you tips on how your home can help you take a deep breath when life is feeling constricted. (If you missed it, you can find that article HERE.)
Since then, I feel like I need a new word besides a lot. None that I’ve come up with seem to capture the world’s intensity. So for now, I’ll stick to a lot a lot as my new word.
The magic is…
When we’re feeling off and not sure how to move forward, our homes can become our greatest allies. They can become the sherpa leading us to higher ground when we don’t know the next step to take.
And MIRRORS are one of the most powerful tools we have to nudge us forward.
They are particularly helpful if…
You’re not feeling seen.
The world feels dark.
Negativity and fear are threatening your peace.
HERE ARE ALL THE WAYS A MIRROR CAN SUPPORT YOU:
Helping you see yourselfÂ
When you’re not feeling seen, hanging a mirror where you frequently catch your reflection can be incredibly powerful. (Pro tip :: Use a dry erase marker to write an affirmation on your mirror honoring the beautiful soul you are.)
Adding light to a dark space
Do you have a space in your home that feels like it’s constantly in the shadows (a windowless corner in the family room, a narrow hallway)? Placing a mirror here will instantly brighten it. It’s a perfect metaphor for shining your light in the world.
Waking up a lethargic space
Do you want more energy or activity in a particular space (your office, art studio, workout room, family room)? Then the addition of a mirror will solve that too. It can be your biggest cheerleader for taking action.
Amplifying the positive
This may be one of a mirror’s greatest talents. A mirror doubles what it sees. So, if you have a piece of artwork that inspires you, hanging a mirror opposite of it will double the inspirational energy. Or, better yet, if you have a money tree inviting in prosperity, then a mirror reflecting the money tree will double your abundance.Â
Inviting nature in
One of the things that our soul craves is nature. When you hang a mirror opposite of a window with a view, you usher Mother Nature into your home instantly bringing in a sense of calm.Â
HERE ARE SOME TIPS WHEN SELECTING AND PLACING YOUR MIRROR:
Hang your mirror at a height where you can see your entire face. Having any part of your face cut off is not the look you’re going for.Â
Avoid mirrors that distort your image. This can happen with a convex or concave mirror or with a mirror that has antique distressing.Â
Don’t place a mirror opposite your front door. Your front door is the mouth of chi. It’s where energy is welcomed into your home. A mirror facing your door will chase the energy back outside.Â
Ensure your mirror doesn’t reflect anything that drains your energy. This might be a pile of dirty clothes or a stack of unpaid bills. Remember, a mirror doubles what it reflects, and we don’t want to double any negative energy.
Don’t have two mirrors facing each other. This is sure to create a war of the mirrors and can feel unsettling.Â
If you have difficulty sleeping, don’t have a mirror that reflects your bed as it will toss any restless energy right back at you.
NOW OVER TO YOU:
Take a walk through your home. Are there spaces that are clamoring for a new mirror? Or other spaces where relocating a mirror would have untold benefits?
I’d love to hear!
xoxo

I've never thought about mirror placement before but it all makes sense. I like the idea of brightening a space and adding nature by putting a mirror opposite a window.
After removing the mirror that was facing my entry door(!) I do seem to be getting more energy. 😃 But I really miss having a mirror in the hallway and there's only two options left; either the bathroom door which faces the clothes rack and shoes and my doggie toilet as well as some inspiring art work), and that wall with the artwork. If I hang my mirror there, it will mirror shoes, doggie toilet and bathroom door. The bathroom door is decorated to stop negative energy flow, though. So would any of that work at all? 😅
