I’m looking into converting a portion of my sun room which is also our utility room (has washer and dryer) into my sacred space. It has two giant windows which I would face (away from washer and dryer lol). It’s becoming a fun project to dream up.
What an insightful conversation to have with the flood and yourself. And I love this invitation about having a sacred space in our homes like this. As I shared with you recently, I’m very mobile these days, living as a digital nomad in Bali. I’ve been learning how to be this space for myself internally, regardless of what my external environment is. Yet I do have a yoga mat, and whenever I lay it out on the floor and lay down on it to do my stretches in the morning, I do feel such a sense of Soul nourishment. 🙏 and containment. And that seems like an important aspect of this space that you’re creating and describing, yes?
I've realized that I have two sacred spaces in my home:
The first one is my reading chair in the living room. It's in a corner, with windows on two sides. On one side I have a view of the Swiss Alps (in the far distance), on the other I can see a wood. Each morning I'm spending an hour or two in it (I'm an earlier riser) reading and writing. Usually I 'have to' share this space with my dog, Luna.
The other sacred space is my sofa in my office/reading room. It's upstairs in the attics and it's surrounded by bookshelves. I use this space mainly in the evenings for journaling, reading, musing.
I wish we could attach photos. I created a corner by laying an extra large yoga mat down. On the wall is a huge canvas of a peaceful beach scene (I took the photo years ago). 3 little plants sit on the window sill. And the final touch, I still need to buy a pouf (one of those round footrest-type things) to sit on.

Oh, yes, I would also love it if we were able to share pictures of our sacred spaces. 😊
I'm brainstorming ideas on this one :)
Ohhh I wish we could too! I'd love to see it! It sounds wonderful.
What about sitting on the floor of your shower. The water seems to wash away the cares of the day, and you are alone with your emotions and thoughts.
I think thats brilliant! 💖
I also love adding the aromatherapy steamers you can put on your shower floor.
Yes! For me it’s never laundry on the bed or even in the room. I love the peace I get by just entering our bedroom.
I love that!!!! 💖💖💖
